Helton DaSilva

Helton DaSilva was born in southern Brazil where he spent time during much of his childhood at family owned farms. It was there that he observed the older generations of his family practicing the crafts of meat curing, cheese making, and simple cooking. Little did he know that this “farm to table” mentality would be the foundation for his future career.

DaSilva moved to the U.S. when he was a teenager. Day after day, the attempts at many different professions proved to be unfulfilling, and night after night he returned home to cook dinner for himself. He began to realize that cooking brought him joy. This epiphany led him to enroll in and later graduate from the Lincoln Culinary Institute.

DaSilva began his time at Barcelona Wine Bar and Restaurant through an internship required for school. After graduation, he was offered a Sous Chef position at the South Norwalk, CT location and gained more experience at the Stamford, New Haven and Fairfield, CT restaurants.

The summer of 2010 brought DaSilva the opportunity for an estage at Primo, an award-winning restaurant in Maine. Later that year, a trip across Spain proved to be an amazing cultural and culinary learning experience that further sparked his inspiration.

DaSilva is now the Executive Chef at our Atlanta location. He brings creativity, passion and modern perspectives to design fresh flavored menus featuring seasonal, local ingredients.

Seasonal Spanish Flair

Barcelona Wine Bar and Restaurant was founded by Andy Pforzheimer and Sasa Mahr-Batuz. After spending many years in Spain reveling in the cuisine and culture, Sasa and Andy decided to recreate the fantastic flavors, beautiful design, and the easygoing lifestyle that they had so enjoyed.

At Barcelona, we pride ourselves in preparing tapas both simple and elegant using the finest seasonal picks from local markets and unusual specialties from Spain and the Mediterranean. Flavors are bold and the ingredients speak for themselves. Barcelona offers an extensive selection of wines from Spain and South America and is one of the largest importers of Spanish wines in the United States. Barcelona serves 40 wines by the glass and will continue to expand and refine their wine offerings.

Located just two miles east of downtown Atlanta, Inman Park is not only the home of beautiful Victorian mansions and contemporary lofts, but also a culinary destination. Barcelona Wine Bar and Restaurant offers the neighborhood a delicious array of Spanish small and large plates that turn the mere act of dining out into a joyous communal experience amongst friends and family. As with the food, the décor is classic, sophisticated and understated. Whether dining inside in our tapas lounge or al fresco on our wrap-around patio, the restaurant’s warm ambience mirrors the chic and urban style of the neighborhood.
